The Coronavirus Pandemic’s Impact on Religious Life
This report is based on a September 2020 survey conducted by the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) of 2,538 U.S. adults through a mixture of online and phone interviews as part of their larger American Values Survey. The report offers insight into their findings on perceptions of COVID-19 as a critical issue, feelings of connection with religious community during the pandemic, religious exemptions to social gatherings, beliefs and impact surrounding shutdowns and mask mandates, trusted information sources of religious Americans, economic impacts of the pandemic, and more. The report also offers updated estimates of COVID-19 exposure by religious subgroup based on November 2020 data.
