Holy Communion During the Pandemic in American Orthodox Parishes

This online survey of Orthodox parishes took place in July 2020. It received 609 responses and included several open-ended questions. Only 23% reported that their congregation had resumed services in which all regular attendees could participate (52% of Russian Orthodox Churches outside Russia). Survey focused heavily on changes to the practice of Holy Communion. 50% of clergy reported that some parishioners had stopped receiving Holy Communion for fear of transmitting disease.
